Some examples of coordinating colors to help you figure out what to wear to a photoshoot. (Not necessarily "matching". We are going for more of a this-goes-together-and-is-pleasing-to-the-eye feel.) I've been working with clients and up-coming photo sessions, pulling together different looks & ideas for what-to-wear. I like to take everyone through a little step-by-step process, although I modify it slightly each time to fit what works best for you. Some people text me their clothing ideas, all laid out, ready to go ... others send a few pictures through email to discuss and still for others we go to the (MachC) Pinterest Boards to dive in further to color schemes & ideas.
And yes, you can pull patterns and color together ... just remember to keep the prints bigger (like the image below) and leave "breathing room" with some solids (e.g., the girls' leggings paired with what mom & dad are wearing too).
Here's another solid paired with a stripe that works really well. Keeps the focus right where it should be - on the two of you!
The yellows on this Senior really compliment the summer greens & blooming flowers at our location. It also worked really well with her skin tone & hair color.
Think about the colors that will naturally already be in the location we are at. See how her baby-blues, oranges and browns all just flow ... not only with each other, but also our location? That's part of what I am looking for when I photograph you & your family.
I do the same for Seniors and their looks.
I love seeing the sea-green criss-cross in the boy's t-shirt and shorts + mom's dress and sister's dress too! A great example of mixing patterns & solids.
