Around the end of September of last year, an online (& off-line) friend contacted me about photographing him & Heather. I was elated! I couldn't believe they thought of me - it truly meant a lot since I know photography is a passion of his. Together they had lost over 80lbs! An incredible accomplishment for sure. One that needed documenting.
He said they both love my style and referred to my work as "Bright, Cheerful and a little quirky." You had me at style + love.
So we started talking about a spring shoot with the two of them - all that they've accomplished, how far they've come ... plus "my grandma has asked for a picture of the two of us ... and I just don't have a nice one to give her". I loved that they had her in mind for part of their photo shoot.
Truth be told, she must have been sending up her own prayers too ... low & behold a few weeks later I get this message:
We might have to rework our plans for any early spring shoot. We found out a little while ago that Heather is pregnant! She's due in the end of July. Woo-hoo!
Yep, it was official. We were now doing a newborn session! Whoohoooo!!! I couldn't stop smiling when I found out. I was being let in on this most magical secret and soon I would be able to photograph them not as a family of two, but as a family of three.
On July 19th, Miss Mable Mae was born. Five days later we spent an afternoon together to capture this
Yes, five days old. Look at that amazing eye contact.
And here are a few quick phone snapshots of what they got. And what he wrote on FB (which made me laugh - love it ;) )
Many years ago, Phil and I met on twitter. Who knew that our online friendship would grow into something like this - giving me a chance to give them the gift of seeing their growing family through my lens. I truly feel blessed & grateful. This is what life is all about.
