I asked a quick little question on Facebook yesterday & got a ton of great responses! (THANK YOU Jaime, Dawn, Lindsay, Barb, Shannon, Robyn & Christy!!! Love hearing your thoughts as you guys are in the trenches!) I thought I'd take a minute to share a few of my own thoughts on the topic. Christy already hinted at my line of thinking ... great minds! ;) Of course when I buy outfits for my kids or recommend clothing to my clients, I'm already two steps ahead: fun, bold colors, great textures, ability to mix & match and durability.
These are just a handful of the magazines & kids clothing catalogs that have showed up in the mail recently. Spring is in the air & if you aren't taking advantage of the "spend $50, get $50" - "free shipping!" offers, you should! When you get a few key pieces, those easily translate with hand-me-downs and/or trendy pieces that you find on the fly.
One of my clients & friends mentioned hanna andersson as "cute, simple & sturdy" - needless to say, this one's on my list! Great colors, great mix & match pieces and you don't have to break the bank. Plus these are every day clothes! I want you to be thinking about clothing that you would choose for your kids anyway ... then make it go the extra mile by having them be outfits that stand the test of time & photograph well.
Mini Boden is great for graphics, color & let's face it - fun stuff for boys. (Which is often hard to find!) One of my clients also mentioned how great it was for her school-age daughter as she found pants (jeans included!) with adjustable waistbands. Huge deal!
Garnet Hill is new to me (they obviously have my number! ;) ) but great for its color & bold, fun attitude.
As the other comments hinted, Target, Nordstrom Rack, Tea Collection, Outlet Malls & so many more are great & an easy way to keep adding pieces to change the look around.
So when you're buying your spring & summer wardrobes for your kids this year stop & think functional, cute & long-lasting. Not just what will wear & tear well ... but what will photograph just as beautifully & give that "commercial kid" appeal that stands the test of time.
